Banding History;
Stayleybridge B band.with the superb John Reynolds,
British Aerospace in 1993 - highlight was 2nd in the 1st
section areas but sadly had to leave to go to uni so never
made the Albert Hall, (Happily for us) Returned to banding
many years later after Terry Wagstaff jumped out from behind
the Melons in Asda(always wondered what he
did for a living) persuading me to get my lip
In, that was 2004 - Ashton ever since.(
well done Terry!)
Best Banding Moment;
Coming 2nd with Ashton playing Masquerade at the Spring
Festival - the cornet fanfare was electric and I don't think
we have ever played so well before or since.....(watch
this space!)
Best Amusing Band Moment;
I don't have too many tales I can get away with (you're
not joking!) But I have very fond memories of Dave Priestley
(solo trom) Playing the Acrobat with his
foot
(sure it was his foot?) Complete with a leopard
skin leotard.....(He's still got it, but
thankfully it only comes out on a weekend)
Anything Else ?
King Cotton was an amazing highlight -
something to tell the Grandkids, should I ever manage some!
